Leaders from Ukraine Come to Baltimore for Emergency Medicine Program

September 22, 2022

BALTIMORE, MD – Five medical professionals from Ukraine will be in Baltimore for eight days, starting September 23, to learn about emergency medicine best practices that are used in the United States and could be applicable to their country.

They will meet with experts from the American Red Cross, Maryland Institute of Medical Emergency Services, Sinai Hospital, John Hopkins Medical Simulation Center, Sheppard Pratt, and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma. They will receive a welcome from City Councilman Zeke Cohen and get a feel for Maryland’s culture by touring the National Aquarium, attending the Fells Point Festival and participating in other local activities with the families in Maryland who will be hosting them.

The group will be hosted by the Baltimore-based World Trade Center Institute, which curates programs for more than 700 international visitors per year. The delegation was chosen by the Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL), an agency of the United States Congress that promotes mutually beneficial options for depolarized engagement between future national leaders.

The visitors will be accompanied by a facilitator and an interpreter, and they will stay with host families in the Baltimore region.
