The World Trade Center Institute (WTCI) offers one- and two-semester internships related to accounting, marketing and communications, program management, operations and human resources, business development and professional exchanges. The internships are a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to learn about global business, as well as to network with peers and potential future employers.

Description: Research the Mid-Atlantic’s top international companies and industry sectors; perform customer relationship management tasks through database and account management; strategic planning for membership based on data collection and analysis; identify strategic outreach efforts to membership and sponsorship prospects; draft meeting notes agendas; prepare and organize new member onboarding material; event preparation; accurately communicate WTCI’s mission and benefits; and miscellaneous duties as needed.
Skills needed: Excellent writing and interpersonal communication; self-motivated; detail-oriented; comfortable working in a small office environment; strong analytical skills; experience with customer relationship management software (i.e., Salesforce, ACT, Goldmine); ability to multi-task; experience managing multiple clients and/or accounts; desire to learn and foster partnerships between diverse local businesses; conduct business research and create company profiles; knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Description: Help design professional and cultural programming for visiting delegations of foreign professionals; escort visiting foreign delegations to meetings with local experts; get acquainted with various government and private sector resources in Maryland; maintain and update database and website content; prepare welcome packets for visitors; perform research projects as needed; attend WTCI networking events; and perform other miscellaneous duties in the internship program field, event planning or office management.
Skills needed: Professional communication and attitude; comfortable with working in a small office environment; good interpersonal skills; detail oriented; ability to complete assignments on deadline; must be able to work independently; interested in working with foreign professionals and learning about foreign cultures and affairs; ability to multi-task; knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite; command of a foreign language preferred but not required.

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Positions are unpaid but a stipend of $85 per month is granted for parking expenses. All
interns make a presentation about their experience to WTCI staff at the end of their internship.
Internships at WTCI are competitive. The top three to five applicants will be invited for an interview by each manager in charge of the different departments. Each manager might interview at different times, so there is no set interview week. After the interviews, WTCI will let applicants know if they have or have not been approved for an internship.
