The first day of the program will be dedicated to introductions to the program team, the Albrecht Fellowship visionary founder, and all fellows. After a WTCI/program overview as well as a group activity, the Albrecht Fellows will hear a keynote from a senior leader on the ten essential leadership traits that would launch anyone’s career on a fast track of accomplishment and recognition.

The day on the campus of Stanley Black & Decker will start out with a session on Public Speaking and Presentation Skills, essential in establishing influence and communicating ideas and in a business (and any other) setting. In the afternoon, the fellows will learn about the brands under Stanley Black & Decker, the company’s sustainability strategy and will hear from several professionals about their roles and the acumen needed to succeed.

The fellows will engage in an Applied Improv (AI) workshop, designed to develop and practice key concepts of diplomacy and negotiation; listening to, understanding, and framing needs, communicating and combining information, and collaborative creative problem solving. In the afternoon, during a moderated panel discussion, fellows will hear from senior professionals in several different industries. 

This full-day retreat at an Outward Bound program will bring out the best of every participant. The power and intensity of learning and adventure in the outdoors create positive experiences and memories that have a lasting impact. To understand the needs of each participant and provide a challenge in the natural environment at the edge of, but not beyond their ability, programs are facilitated by expert practitioners applying an effective process to develop an appreciation of the balance between risk, reward, and responsibility. 

McCormick & Company, Inc. is a global leader in flavor. This full-day immersive experience will introduce fellows to one of the most iconic brands in Maryland. In the first part of the day, they will visit the Hunt Valley Plant for an overview of manufacturing supply chains. In the second part of the day, the fellows will visit the headquarters for an overview of various products and corporate roles.  an appreciation of the balance between risk, reward, and responsibility. 

In this interactive session, fellows will hear from a diverse team of professionals in various roles at Collins Aerospace and will witness the development of groundbreaking technology and solutions in the aerospace industry – from electrified aircraft to integrated cabin experience solutions and digital and technology acceleration. In the afternoon, the fellows will visit the MD State House to learn about the legislative process, the role of global affairs in state policymaking, and opportunities for engagement at every level.  

While many companies struggled throughout the pandemic, one Baltimore manufacturer boosted its sales and nearly doubled its workforce to meet the growing demand for its products. Pompeian made Baltimore its home in 1906 and today is the nation’s largest brand of olive oil. It also offers best-selling vinegars and various cooking sprays. It’s no wonder they are known as The Olive Oil People, which highlights their committment for farm-to-table products and the well-being of their farmers and growers.

The fellows will spend half a day speaking to Pompeian executives, touring the facilities and enjoying lunch “on campus.” The afternoon will be dedicated to a fellowship-specific social event to help strengthen the bond between fellows and establish a foundation for future collaborations.

The Program Closing for the 2024 Albrecht Fellowship for College will provide a reflection on the program experience and an action plan to make the most out of the program in the coming months. A closing ceremony will be held for the graduating fellows.
