Five medical professionals from Ukraine visited Baltimore for eight days, beginning March 10, to learn more about best practices in trauma centers and treatments applicable to their country.
They met with the staff of United States Congressman Kweisi Mfume, as well as experts from the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the Limb Loss and Amputee Rehabilitation Program at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute, Johns Hopkins Limb Loss Rehabilitation, Prosthetics and Orthotics, University of Maryland School of Nursing, and Dankmeyer Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Guests also embraced the true essence of Maryland’s culture by visiting local landmarks, dining at Baltimore restaurants, and participating in other local activities alongside their host families.
Included in the visit was a trip to the World Trade Center Institute’s offices, a nonprofit that curates programs for more than 700 international visitors per year. This global exchange was made possible by the Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL), an agency of the United States Congress that promotes mutually beneficial opportunities for depolarized engagement between current and future international leaders.
