Digital illiteracy, as well as limited access to broadband internet and digital devices, has created a digital divide in the United States that isolates large swaths of people – particularly women in rural and low-income communities. To bridge the divide, we need to do more than just lay fiber. We also need to ensure that people in underserved communities have equal access to digital hardware and software and high-speed internet, as well as the training and skills needed to navigate digital resources.
