Internship Opportunities         
Internships at the World Trade Center Institute (WTCI) offer practical hands-on business experience and unparalleled networking opportunities.  As an intern, you will gain insight into the world of international business, learn from industry leaders and get a head-start on your career.  At  WTCI, interns are treated more like staff than part-time help.  Many of our interns go on to full-time positions with our clients – some of Maryland’s most prestigious corporations.

Responsibilities
Internships are available in the following areas:

  • Operations and Client Services
    Research and learn about Maryland's  top international companies and industries; market research; prepare financial analysis; assist in Board of Directors management as well as daily office operations.
  • Business Development & Sales
    Research and learn about Maryland's  top international companies and industries; assist in new business ideas, research strategic alliances and potential new sources of revenue building.
  • International Visitors Program & Client Services
    Assist in planning programs for upcoming foreign delegations including program preparation and escorting groups to meetings.
  • Marketing /Communications and Events
    Assist in marketing and promotion for WTCI and WTCI's prestigious business events. Help to plan and manage business events  - check out our calendar for the featured events happening in your semester of interest. Assist in maintaining website and print design materials. Knowledge of photoshop, illustrator and/or dreamweaver a plus.

  • Finance and IT
    Assist in finance and IT related activities; prepare financial analysis; assist in maintaining AP/AR books.

All interns will complete a semester project, which is presented to WTCI staff at the end of the term.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Work a minimum of 15 hours per week, with a maximum of 35 hours per week. 
  • Positions are unpaid, however, a stipend up to $65 is granted for travel expenses. Also credentials can be earned towards your degree.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply. 

The Application Process:

Intern Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume by email, fax or mail.
The cover letter should indicate:

  1. The semester period(s) for which the applicant is applying
  2.  An approximate date on which he/she would be available to begin work, if selected.
  3. The position for which the applicant is applying.  Note - You will not be interviewed for all positions, make sure to cleary state your most preferred position.  

WTCI will invite approximately 5-8 applicants for each position for an interview.  After the interviews, WTCI will notify selected interns.

Application Dates:

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in advance of deadline.    
WTCI offers internship for the following sessions: 

  • Spring Semester Internships (from mid-January through mid-May). Please submit your application by December 1st.            
  • Summer Session Internships (from mid-May through mid-August). Please submit your application by April 4th.        
  • Fall Semester Internships (from mid-August through mid-December). Please submit your application by July 1st.
